HIT: Barack Hussein Obama

Out with the old, in with the new. This is a sentiment on the minds of many today, as the United States of America swore in Barack Obama, the nation's 44th president:

"The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit, to choose our better history, to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness."

Such words along with Obama's enduring spirit and ability to overcome many obsitcles is what makes him a definite HIT on my Hit List.
To be honest I was among the many who believed that there was no way in hell that a black man was going to make it through the primary elections, let alone become the president of the US. I was glad to be proven wrong. Through Obama's journey I've learned that perseverance and confidence in one's self worth can take a person far. He campaigned under a banner of change, but it was the hope he ignited in the hearts of many that got him elected. He made anyone who would listen believe that they too can achieve anything they put their minds too.
Speaking as minority I know how easy it is to lose hope in yourself when you fail to fit the status quo, because of that I can truely appreciate president Obama's accomplishments. He showed the world that you can be an under dog with a funny name, and still reach the top. His achievements will alter the psyche of under dogs everywhere. For that, I salute you, Mr. President!
